University of St Andrews Approves TWENDE

TWENDE – Tuberculosis: Working to Empower Nations’ Diagnostic Efforts – has received ethical approval from the University of St. Andrews. On 10th May 2016, acting on behalf of the University’s Teaching and Research Ethics Committee (UTREC) the University’s School of Medicine Ethics Committee granted ethical approval for TWENDE.

Similar approval requests for TWENDE are in process with the relevant authorities in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania; the three countries where the TWENDE field research shall be conducted. It is expected that all the required ethical approvals for TWENDE will be received by 1st July 2016 when the formal launch of TWENDE is scheduled to take place in a form of a conference that will be held at the Nelson Mandela Institute of Science and Technology in Arusha in Northern Tanzania.
